Yaju has returned home to China now and has been enjoying the World Athletics Champs in Beijing.
It has been an awesome experience for our schools to host Yaju. Our students and teachers have learnt so much, we have been proud to share with you all that is special about our schools and NZ, and we have really enjoyed your dumplings!
We would recommend to any schools thinking of hosting teacher to go for it - contact Prue at AFS.

"YAJU'S VISIT
Kath . — August 23, 2015
It was so interesting to live and work with someone from a completely different culture for a week...
Yaju teaches in a school of over 3000 students in Beijing, China and her life is so completely different from mine that it was mind-blowing.
It was great fun having Yaju to stay and showing her what it means to live at the bottom of the world on Rakiura. While she was here the family was treated to Yaju's delicious dumplings and her divine noodle dishes - yummy!
During her week long stay Yaju was lucky enough to have a close encounter with a kiwi, accompany the Year 7&8 boys on their Ulva row, travel up to Dunedin for some shopping and tiki tour down through the Catlins visiting Nugget Point Lighthouse and watching FIVE yellow eyed penguins come ashore after a hard days fishing.
She also jogged to Little River and ate kai moana with Jess, Stu, Moby and Charlie.
Hopefully I will make it Beijing one day so she can return the favour and I can get a first hand look at the life of a teacher Beijing style."
